Dear Initialers, this is the second part of my short Madura adventure…
Warning: tons of pictures, watch out your bandwidth 
Well… well… after we had a quick lunch at Warung Amboina, Carlos suggested us to visit Sembilangan Lighthouse (Mercusuar Sembilangan). He had memories there on his childhood. Since we still had plenty of time, then I said “Okay!”
Sembilangan Lighthouse is located near the western tip of Bangkalan, Madura. It helps mariners to reach Tanjung Perak harbor in Surabaya. It takes 30 to 40 minutes car ride from Suramadu Bridge (Jembatan Suramadu) to this place.
Sembilangan Lighthouse is an ancient Holland / Netherland architecture. The whole building is built from metal material. The structure constructed piece by piece in Holland and bolt together on the current spot.
It has 54 meters height and consists of 16 levels floor. I think it’s an amazing piece of work, since it was built on 1879. I think this monumental structure is hard to be replicated in this era. 
This lighthouse is still functioning and commercialized as tourism object. We have to pay IDR 3,000 for parking charge. Prepare for extra IDR 2,000 for ‘cleaning fee’ (huh!?) before you step into the lighthouse.
Too bad, Sembilangan Lighthouse is not well maintained. There’re so many naughty graffiti on the inside wall. It seems that so many teenagers use this place for 17+ activities *indehoy!*, so there are warning sign everywhere – as shown on the picture above 
The bottom level is pretty wide but it’s getting smaller and smaller on every level. Consider that we had to step 16 levels of ladders, we stopped on every level and took a breath. And also, took picturesssssssss.. !! Hoho.. *kerasukan setan kamera* 
You’ll be surprised by different view on each level. Yap, we’re getting out of breath and sweaty but we’re getting more excited when we get higher.
The top level was very breath taking and made me shiver. I looked down and saw charming scenery.
Well, there were 2 things that made me scared. First, I doubt about the metal structure since it was 112 years old. Second, the wind was pretty hard up there so I had to hang on the hand grip tightly *lebay* But it’s so amazing up there; we can see 360 degrees scenery of Madura Island, really worth the effort.
On the way back down, Chris spotted some good photogenic angles. There’s a tunnel which connects every floor from bottom up. The light from every floor fill the tunnel and create beautiful spiral illusion.
Shadow of the lighthouse fall into the ground perfectly like this.. So, can you imagine how tall it is ? Can you imagine how HOT it was? *keringeten*
At the end of our journey at Sembilangan Lighthouse, we were so hungry and thirsty. Luckily there’s a local lady selling Rujak (mix fruit, vegetables and rice cake with peanut sauce) and drinks near the lighthouse.
Overall Sembilangan Lighthouse is must see place when you had a chance in Madura, especially if you want to feel sensational adrenaline burst at the height of 54 meters (with only a hand grip to save the day!). Quite challenging for photographers too.
Relax, it’s not the end of my journey. I’ll take Initialers to taste the famous Bebek Goreng Sinjay, still in Madura. Keep updated.

@FHM (fahmi!) : that’s right.. actually, it was ok at first. but the higher we had, the metal vibrated harder and harder, especially at the top

wah Madura apik juga ya… Thanks to Jembatan Suramadu, kayaknya ngga lama lagi bisa makin maju tuh objek wisata nya… secara Jembatannya sendiri udah objek wisata tersendiri… Terakhir ke Surabaya, dari atas pesawat keliatan lho Jembatannya, dan megah banget… asal ngga di colongin baut nya ya hua ha ha

oh i have visited this site many years ago (when i was only a little boy). i didn’t fear the height, but i was trembling up there. not sure whether the floors would hold so many people up there. weehhh… those thin metal plates are vibrating at every footstep, yay!
